MSW BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SPECIALIST

Brian Goughnour joins the Sage Health family as a Behavioral Health Specialist, Brian eamed a Bachelor of Science in Behavioral Health Science with a minor in Social Work from Saint Francis University where he graduated summa cum laude. With a desire to help others, Brian went on to achieve his Master of Social Work from Capella University where he graduated with distinction.

Brian understands that life doesn’t always follow a 9-to-5 schedule. To better support our community, he has expanded his availability to include evening and weekend virtual appointments. We recognize that our clients have busy lives, and these flexible hours allow you to prioritize your mental wellness without the stress of taking time away from work or daily responsibilities.

In addition to providing individualized support for anxiety, depression, and stress, Brian has expanded his practice to include couples and family counseling. He values building a trusting therapeutic alliance where individuals and families alike feel valued and empowered to reach their goals. Brian strives to be an advocate for those in need, helping clients understand their experiences, create holistic goals, and make sustainable life changes

Brian underwent specialized training with practicum experiences in outpatient medication-assisted treatment, foster care placement, and outpatient therapy. He values building a trusting and supportive therapeutic alliance where clients are valued, reinforced with strategies, and strive to reach their goals through treatment. Brian strives to be an advocate for those in need, supporting his clients by understanding their previous experiences, creating holistic goals and helping them make sustainable life changes.

Outside of work, Brian enjoys spending time with his wife and four daughters. His hobbies include playing guitar, practicing martial arts, hiking, reading and playing video games. Brian appreciates Virginia’s beautiful landscapes and scenic mountain views.
